Distributed sensing only works if the node is cheap

Published counter-UAS studies price capital kits: tripods, trailers, layered stacks in the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. They leave out the grid that shows up when the same sensing idea fits a vehicle, and then a pocket.

Node count is the point. A convoy carries a sensor per vehicle. A formation carries one per soldier once size, weight, power, and price clear a radio-class bar. Mind & Signal is building that passive RF sensor in a band around $5,000 to $15,000 — about a tenth of today’s cheaper kits — so the grid becomes rational.

The first nodes are the vehicle and the small ISR aircraft. The wearable is the multiplier the published studies leave out, and it is on the same roadmap. One stack. Three places it rides.
